Euclid Street Airbnb Week 1: Progress Update and the Full Before Tour

Week 1 is behind us! So far we are 100% on track. Below is the check list and the pictures of our progress! We got all of our hobby stuff out of the “airbnb-to-be” space and into their new homes!

WEEK 1: Wine Room and Workshop Displacement

  • Clear out our stuff from the side storage room
  • Scrub and Kilz paint the walls and floor
  • Rebuild shelving structure to full use space and create room for wine equipment
  • Add a double basin sink. This includes connecting a drain up to the main stack (luckily right next to it. We are also lucky to have water hook ups.
  • Move wine making table and equipment into the new room
  • Get electricity run to the garage
  • Move work bench to garage, along with tools
  • Look at flooring options (vinyl laminate, laminate, or ceramic tile, refinished concrete floor)
The side storage room was scrubbed with bleach, repainted with a mold inhibitor paint and the shelves were added
As you can see, we got rid of a bunch o’ crap and reorganized. This, along with the added shelves for the storage room, has created space for my wine making equipment. You can see the utility sink Kasey added on the right.
My new wine making space! Ready just in time for the wine season

The Before Tour!

Welcome! As you enter, this would be the bedroom. As you can see, there is still lots to do! The bed will be on the right and closet rack will replace the refrigerator in the corner.
As you continue down the hallway, you run into the kitchen. This space really just needs the works. We are working on coming up with a creative way to integrate the stairs into something useful… maybe shelving?
As you look back on the space, you can see the retro cast iron sink and steel cabinets. I would like to try to refurbish this bad boy. If anyone has color suggestions, let me know! We would also remove the counter-top in the corner and replace it with a wooden table. We don’t want to put a full stove back in, so for now, we will stick with hot plates.
Random office space as you go around the corner. This is right by the bathroom, but there is enough space for a desk, chairs, or a couch. Not shown: behind me is a little book shelf built into the old brick.
Last, but not least is the currently scary, pastel pink bathroom! This here is total gut job. We will be removing that weird little shower wall and making the whole thing a walk-in. The plan is to make it bright and white. It is a small bathroom and the only room in the bnb space without a window.

The End

We hope you were thoroughly disgusted.. it only makes for more gratifying after pictures! This concludes the Before Tour. Tune in next week for Demolition Days! Remember, it always gets worse before it gets better.
