Euclid Street Airbnb Week 5: Kitchen Tile and Lots of White Paint

Week 5, it should be the end. We would love it to be the end. Unfortunately, you cannot will the kitchen tile onto the walls. So! Nose to the grind stone and keep it going. We are pretty close to being done with tile. Just the bathroom floor to finish! Lots of white paint made its way to as many surfaces as we could manage. The basement factor makes this extra tricky, lots of pipes, nooks, funky edges and surfaces.

We had some unexpected bumps: rain on our concrete steps out back at the last hour and a cracked glass pane in the wine cellar door. But you just have to roll with the punches.

Here is what we did this week:

  • Finished the inside wall tile in the bathroom
  • Painted the bathroom ceiling
  • Kitchen tile backsplash wall
  • Painted the kitchen
  • Stripped paint off of the wine cellar door and managed to crack the glass in the process.. whomp
  • Got ceiling tiles put back up in the kitchen
  • Pot lights in the kitchen were rearranged for the shelves
  • Door framed-in for the wine cellar
  • Concrete platform and steps into the back entrance finished. We might try some tactics to finish the bit the got rained on
Kitchen is coming along! Walls, ceiling and pipes are painted… you guessed it. White! The tile took us a solid day. There is an extra pot light in the corner and trimmed window looks much better. Tiling around the floating shelf posts and the two white pipes were a bear to tile around.
Just a little reminder where were were a few weeks ago
Another before and after view of the kitchen. The refinished sink will go on the tile wall and 6 foot floating shelves, 11″ deep will be centered over the sink. Bamboo floor will be in the kitchen as well.

Lots of progress this week. Its taking a bit longer than we hoped, but we are still moving forward and things are coming together. The devil is in the details…
