Euclid Street Airbnb Week 6

Everything is coming together. We had more fun with tile along with some other odds and ends.

Here is what we did this week:

  • Grouting the kitchen wall
  • Painted the cabinet
  • First floating shelf was mocked up
  • Wall grout in bathroom
  • Bathroom floor tile and grout
  • Caulking the tile joint in the bathroom
  • Painted another door
  • Added a light going into the basement
  • Framed out around the top of the stairs, ready for wall board
White grout really made the tiles pop. Love it! We were testing cabinet colors. Navy blue it is.
The cast iron sink was heavily stained. We used kohler cast iron cleaner, then soft scrub with bleach and a whole lot of elbow grease. Came out great! The sink has some nicks and dings, but who doesn’t?
The cabinets are painted! Kasey mocked up the floating shelf so we can be sure of the thickness and the length before we glue it all together. The shelves are are a hollow design using 1/2″pine boards. A mitered edge gives you a really nice seamless look.
Here is the floating shelf without the front and sides pieces, showing the 45 degree rip we did with the table saw. This is a cost effective way to get a nice looking floating shelf.
Just another view. We are going to keep the shelf a lighter honey color.
Kasey kicked some butt in the bathroom. The floor tile is in! The walls above the last row are grouted, as well as the floor. We went with white grout on the light gray tile for contrast. The last row of wall tile is also in and will be grouted this week.
Whatchya doin’ guys? Are you done yet?!
